I have been shaped as a person and a writer by spending ten years as a social justice organizer, mostly working with low-wage immigrant workers. I'm also a drummer, and I make part of my living now by teaching street drumming workshops to women and youth. In my writing, I like to look for the overlap between social realism, nature, and magic.
