Born in Sri Lanka, Pireeni Sundaralingam is co-editor of "Indivisible: An Anthology of Contemporary South Asian American Poetry" (U. Arkansas Press, 2010), winner of the 2011 N.California Book Award & PEN Josephine Miles Award. Her poetry has been published in over twenty literary journals including The American Poetry Review and Ploughshares, featured in anthologies such as Amnesty's "101 Poems for Human Rights", and translated into five languages. Literary awards include a San Francisco Arts Commission award, and fellowships from PEN & the Berlin Academy of Art. She is currently completing a poetry manuscript exploring her memories of the Sri Lankan civil war. Sundaralingam is a 2016 Urban Fellow at the Exploratorium's Fisher Bay Observatory, and a Global Salzburg Fellow.
