Louise Aronson is a geriatrician, writer, educator, and the author of the PEN/Bingham finalist, A History of the Present Illness. Her essays and stories can be found in literary journals, newspapers, and medical journals, including the New York Times, Narrative Magazine, and the New England Journal of Medicine. To sneak reading and writing into her medical career, she often teaches narrative and advocacy writing to doctors, nurses, patients and caregivers (i.e. people.) She is currently completing two non-fiction books, one that uses stories and facts in traditional ways while surreptitiously transforming how readers think and feel about aging, and a second that defies both genres and much of what passes as truth in medicine.
