Joey Garcia tends broken hearts, offers spiritual wisdom and challenges readers to get a backbone in “Ask Joey” her advice column now celebrating its 20th anniversary in the Sacramento News & Review. She received a 2014 Pushcart nomination in poetry and has enjoyed poetry fellowships in Paris and Spoleto. Born in Belize, and raised in the East Bay, she is at work on a memoir about using the spiritual traditions of her Mayan, Welsh and African ancestors to heal from trauma.
