Ismael Parra

I am a member of the National Writers Union. I write songs, poetry, translate, teach, organize and fight for worker and civil rights. I am fluent in three languages ( Spanish, Italian, English). The scope of my work has been broad, including having been a union tradesman and an opera chorister. Importantly, my grandparents and parents were communist and I too have been a lifelong progressive, having written copy for organizing literature, solidarity songs, been a contributor to the People’s World Newspaper as well as other publications. I am on the local station board of Pacifica Radio in Los Aneles, CA. The City of Los Angeles has voted to officially eliminate the title "Columbus Day" from the October Holiday and replace it with Indigenous People’s Day. I will celebrate this event at Litquake with a selection of embellished historical prose.
